Werwath Associates is a consulting firm founded in 1983, with a mission to drive change and build strong, affordable communities. We believe housing should be available to all members of the community, regardless of location or income. We are driven by the sense of belonging that comes from having a place to call home.

We do this by helping local community development programs substantially increase their impact. We typically engage with local governments and nonprofits at the planning stage and then help to create and fund new community development programs — frequently involving start-ups of entirely new organizations or subsidiaries.

We have written a number of community-wide housing plans, as well as project-specific affordable housing development covenants. We also assist with acquiring and developing properties for affordable and mixed-income housing.

To achieve results quickly and at reasonable costs, we use a number of time-tested models for market analysis, community-engaged planning, homebuyer assistance programs, project development, housing trust funds, loan fund management, housing trust funds, and inclusionary zoning.

We can assist with business planning, nonprofit incorporation, tax-exemption applications, funding proposals, budgeting, cash flow projections, staff recruitment, homebuyer counseling, loan processing systems, property acquisition, construction management, financial management, reporting to funders, and other related functions.
